About Me
Hi!
I’m Jay! Thank you for your interest in my services and in empowering yourself with long lasting self-care health-care tools for healing and radiant vitality.
Bodywork: I received my initial certification from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage in 2006. Apart from taking time off to heal from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer in 2015-16 and closing my practice during the “great pause”, I have been in private practice since 2007. Since 2007 I have worked as a Massage Therapist Somatic turned Medicinal Somatic Therapist serving central Virginia. I currently offer bodywork treatments in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Body oriented trauma resolution: Through my extensive training in Polyvagal Bodywork (Nervous System Attunement Bodywork), Cranio- Sacral Therapy, Therapeutic Massage Modalities and Somatic Therapies for Trauma Resolution, I am able to meet you where you are. My intention is to go slow and never to “work on you” but rather to “work with you” by listening deeply and supporting your body’s inherent wisdom. As a student and subsequently teaching assistant for Janet Evergreen, MA, of the Sanctuary (healing arts school), I gained extensive experience in body oriented therapies to relieve anxiety, depression, chronic stress, adverse childhood experiences, and PTSD. I hold Pre and Perinatal Trauma Resolution Educator Certificate and have experience working with both children and adults.
Community Service: When I am well resourced with energy and time, I love opportunities to share my gifts with the community. I have volunteered locally as a massage therapist for under served communities through Common Ground Healing Arts. In 2018, I was honored to be invited by a local attorney to the Texas border to support immigrants suffering from trauma as a result of family separation and fear of deportation. I offer QiGong Workshops scholarships to those going through financial hardship.
QIGONG: I have been guiding Qigong and the Internal Martial Arts since 2012. I received a five-year certificate of training in Medical Qigong from Blue Willow World Healing Center. I continue to train under the direct guidance of Daoist Qigong Master Zhongxian Wu, the recognized lineage holder of 4 Daiost Internal Martial Arts schools. I have also been honored to train and receive wisdom transmissions and empowerments from Pre and Perinatal Trauma healers and Buddhist monks
I guide Qigong as a deep, internal “feeling while healing” experience. I am trauma aware of chronic emotional stress patterns, chronic illness, traumatic early child hood imprints and physical limitations. I demonstrate physical modifications in my classes and workshops to meet you where you are. I offer small-group Qigong classes, and individual Qigong lessons are also available via Zoom or in person.
I am a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Survivor (2014). I draw on experiential wisdom gained from my early departure from conventional treatments protocols and my application of Medical Qigong for pain management, cancer therapy, and chemotherapy recovery.
I live in central Virginia with my daughter Kiara, and my wife Sophia and our son Ailani.
